Selangor MB crisis: No official invite from palace yet, says Azmin

AMPANG: As the buzz around the Selangor mentri besar issue continues, potential candidate Azmin Ali says he is yet to receive an official invite from the Palace.
Azmin, when met by reporters outside his house on Monday morning said he is reserving his comments as there was no invite or communications from the Selangor Palace on the matter.

“I am aware (of the announcement and swearing in) based on the news I’ve read, but personally I’ve not received any invitation.

“I think we will wait until the Palace makes the decision,” said Azmin.

Asked further on his position if he is named as the next Selangor MB, Azmin said his party, PKR has taken the position since July that it will nominate its president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the mentri besar.

“Well there is a process in the party so we will wait until the decision comes from the Palace,” said Azmin without elaborating further.

Apart from Azmin, two other potential candidates for the post include PAS’ Iskandar Samad and Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi.

It was reported that the Palace may likely announce the name of the new mentri besar by Monday at the latest.
Last Thursday, the Palace confirmed that the swearing-in ceremony of the new mentri besar of Selangor will be held tomorrow on Tuesday at the Istana Alam Shah, Klang.
