Malaysia Cup final tickets selling like hot cakes

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Cup Final between Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Pahang is expected to be a fiery affair, if it matches ticket sales, which are going like hot cakes.

Supporters and fans from both teams have been lining up at Bukit Jalil as well as in Johor and Pahang from the wee hours today to get their hands on the tickets.

In Pahang, supporters in Temerloh and Kuantan came out by the droves as they sought to be the first to lay their hands on the tickets for the Saturday night final.

In Johor Baru, ticket sales at Stadium Tan Sri Dato Haji Hassan Yunos, Larkin for JDT fans and supporters saw thousands waiting their turn from the early hours.

A total of 90,000 tickets will be on sale for the final. The National stadium can accommodate up to a 100,000 capacity.

Pahang and JDT will receive 40,000 tickets each. The remaining 10,000 to be sold online through www.tickethotline.com.my.

Tickets are priced at a flat rate of RM40. For children below 12, it is priced at RM5.

Fans who purchase tickets online can redeem them at the Putra Stadium from Thursday (10am-6pm).

No tickets will be sold on match day.

Pahang made the finals with a 6-3 aggregate win over Kedah over a two leg semi-final, while Super League champions JDT won 6-5 on aggregate against Felda.

Meanwhile, chaos is anticipated for Saturday’s Malaysia Cup final as two other events will be held near the venue on match day.

The FA of Malaysia (FAM) had initially proposed new dates, either on Friday or Sunday, for the final but both teams rejected them.

The Peninsular Children of Sarawak Association will organise a gathering attended by Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem at the stadium’s parking lot while a Buddhist association will hold an event at Putra Stadium the same day.

FAM competitions committee chairman Datuk Seri Afandi Hamzah said the new dates were proposed to Pahang and Darul Ta’zim but both rejected them as Friday and Sunday are working days in their respective states.

Following this a number measures have been taken by FAM, Police, Stadium and public transport authorities to ensure an incident free Saturday night final.
