KUALA LUMPUR: Local songstress Nurshahila Amir Amzah (Shila Amzah) was presented the ‘Ikon Wanita Muda’ (Young Women Icon) 2014 award in conjunction with the Puteri Umno assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre here today.

Shila was represented by her father, Datuk Amir Amzah Salleh (ND Lala), to accept the award presented by Puteri Umno Chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.

The singer, who is in Beijing, China for the recording of a musical show, expressed her pride and appreciation through a short video broadcasted in the hall.

“I am grateful and feel touched by this award from Puteri Umno. I would like to thank Puteri Umno chief for recognising my talent.

“My hope for the young women out there is for them to continue supporting Puteri Umno and I wish Puteri Umno members all the best,” she said.

The Ikon Wanita Muda 2014 award was also presented to national track cyclist Fatehah Mustapa who won a silver medal for the women’s Keirin event at the Asian Games in Incheon, Korea, last October.
