Tesco pledges RM100,000

KUALA LUMPUR: Tesco Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd yesterday pledged a RM100,000 contribution of essential items to Tabung Bencana NSTP-Media Prima.

The contribution was in the form of hygiene kits and food items, such as rice, flour, noodles, canned food, coffee, tea, cooking oil and biscuits.

Tesco announced its commitment to provide sourcing and logistics support to New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd and Media Prima Bhd in their relief missions.

Tesco Malaysia Corporate Affairs and Government Relations director Datuk Azlam Shah Alias presented a mock cheque to Media Prima deputy group managing editor (news and current affairs, Television Networks) Datuk Manja Ismail.

Present were Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Hasan Malek, Media Prima Bhd chairman Tan Sri Johan Jaaffar and Tesco Malaysia advisory board chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Abid.

Azlam said he hoped the collaboration would enable stocks and logistics to be deployed to affected areas.

“In our past collaborations, we have eased the burden of those who lost their belongings during the floods in Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan.

“Should the floods recur, we are more than ready to lend a hand,” he said.
