Subra wants party’s state leaders to be elected

GEORGE TOWN: The MIC deputy president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam (pic) is in favour of the proposal for the party’s state leaders to be elected.

“The proposal is a good thing for the party to look at greater democratisation in MIC.

“At the moment, all branch, division and national leaders in the MIC are elected.

“The only group that is appointed is the state leaders.

“We are thinking on how to have the state leadership be elected. A committee is working on it,” he said after a meeting with the Penang Hospital staff Monday.

Dr Subramaniam added that the democratisation process could give a greater mandate and bring forward a stronger party.-thestar
