FA Cup final: Cops praise supporters’ conduct

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have praised Kelantan and Singapore Lions XII supporters for exhibiting exemplary behaviour during the FA Cup final match on Saturday.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Chong Kok Sin said the 85,000 odd fans at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil had conducted themselves well.

Lions beat Kelantan 3-1 to bag the FA Cup for the first time.

The match ended at around 11pm with no untoward incidents reported.

ACP Chong, however, confirmed that two men, aged 20 and 26, were arrested on suspicion of peddling fake tickets at the main entrance to the stadium.

He said a Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) officer who was on duty at the stadium was alerted of the incident at about 3.10pm Saturday by two members of the public.

“The FAM officer went to the spot where the suspects were allegedly selling fake tickets and apprehended them.

“Upon inspection, he found 165 fake tickets in the men’s possession. The tickets all had the same ‘0019092’ serial number,” he said.

ACP Chong added that police arrested the men and confiscated the fake tickets.
