TV9 exec’s husband acquitted of killing wife

SHAH ALAM: The High Court here on Thursday acquitted and discharged the husband of TV9 administrative executive Nur Syaleza Jaffar from killing the woman three years ago.

Justice Datuk Abdul Halim Aman made the ruling after he was satisfied that the defence managed to raise reasonable doubts on the prosecution’s case.

He said infidelity of the victim’s husband, Norazman Bashah Ahmad Azam Bashah (pic), 34, was the cause for Nur Syaleza to become depressed, causing her to commit suicide.

Norazman Bashah was accused of killing Nur Syaleza, 31, at their residence in Saujana Apartment, Jalan PJU 10/1C, Damansara Damai, Petaling Jaya, between 12 noon and 7.30 pm on July 28, 2012.

The former oil and gas company information technology division executive was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code that carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Rosidah Abu Bakar and T. Deepa Nair appeared for the prosecution while the accused was represented by counsel Muhammad Fadhli Sutris and Shah Rizal Abdul Manan.

A total of 24 prosecution witnesses and one defence witness gave evidence during the trial. – Bernama
