PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh announces the name of the ministry he heads as the Higher Education Ministry (KPT). In a statement today, he said the name coincided with the provision of the act related to higher education.

The Cabinet reshuffle, which was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on July 28, involved the portfolio of Higher Education Ministry which had been revived.

In the reshuffle, Najib picked Idris to head the ministry and Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching as his deputy.

The Higher Education Ministry portfolio was first created in 2008 during the era of Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

After the 13th general election, Najib combined the portfolio with the Education Ministry, and appointed former Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Minister of Education and Idris as Second Education Minister.–BERNAMA
