Salleh Said Keruak swears in as senator

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak has sworn in as senator today, after being appointed as the Communications and Multimedia Minister yesterday.

The 58-year-old from Kota Belud said he believed in team work and will inform the rakyat on the ministry’s policies after listening and getting feedback from all sides.

“Government policies should be understood by the people. “I believe in leadership through listening before implementing government policies,” he said at the Parliament lobby before the swearing in ceremony in front of Senate speaker Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang.

Salleh resigned as the Sabah State Assembly Speaker yesterday and flew off to Kuala Lumpur to accept his new post in the Federal Cabinet.

The former chief minister was appointed in the new cabinet by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, replacing Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

Salleh has a degree in Political Science from Simon Fraser University, Canada and a PHD in Political Science and Government from Universiti Putra Malaysia.
