KUCHING: Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem today dropped a big hint that the next state election might be held earlier than expected.

Adenan, who appeared joyous when he officiated the “Flying of Jalur Gemilang” campaign in Petra Jaya near here, said he has fixed the date for the 11th Sarawak polls.

“I have decided on the (state) election date, but I will not tell you when. It will be before June 20 (next year).” said Adenan.

For the past few months, Adenan, who is State Barisan Nasional chairman, has been leaving trails and hints that the next state polls might be held before the present mandate for the state government ends on June next year.

Two days ago, Adenan had announced that he would defend his Tanjung Datu state seat and was seeking a new mandate from the people for him to continue serving as the Sarawak Chief Minister for another term.

On other matters, Adenan hoped that there would be no untoward incident during the Bersih 4.0 rally that would be held here tomorrow.
