TELUK INTAN: The boat which capsized in Sabak Bernam waters on Thursday could only accommodate between 10 and 15 passengers, says Hilir Perak district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain.

However based on the feedback from the survivors, he said the boat had between 70 and 80 people on board when the incident occurred.

“We will widen the search and rescue area to 25 nautical miles from the spot it was believed to have sunk near Sungai Bernam estuary,” he told a Press conference at Ladang Sungai Bernam jetty here today.

To date, he said 24 bodies and 20 survivors were already found. However, he said only five of the bodies had been identified by relatives and friends at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun.
