Kajang kidnappers arrested

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested two suspects, including an Indonesian, believed to be linked to the abduction of a five-year-old boy in Sungai Chua, Kajang yesterday.

Selangor police chief Datuk Abdul Samah Mat confirmed that the duo, aged 28 and 32, were picked up at 10.25pm during raids conducted around Sg Chua.

“Two suspects were arrested, one local and an Indonesian. The arrest was made in the Sg Chua area,” he said.

However, Abdul Samah did not mention whether the two suspects were those who had snatched the boy from his mother outside his kindergarten as shown in the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, which went viral yesterday.

“Investigations are still ongoing ,” he added.

The boy who was abducted in Jalan Cempaka, Kajang yesterday morning, was returned to his family by a taxi driver at about 5.35pm yesterday after eight hours of his disappearance.

The family members of the victim, clearly shaken by the discovery, had thanked the cabbie who only wanted to be known as Nizam for his help. Nizam said he found the boy wandering by the side of the road.

“I recognised the boy’s photo from a WhatsApp post and decided to send him home,” he said.

Nizam however declined to reveal further details as he feared for his safety.

The child was abducted when his mother dropped him off at a kindergarten in Jalan Cempaka, Taman Setia here at about 9am. Meanwhile, the parents of the boy are keeping mum about the incident. 3224 reads
