Father, son sent to detention centres over link to murders of four people

IPOH: A father and son, who were earlier today released under the Prevention of Crime Act (POCA) 1959 for their suspected involvement in the murder of four people since 2012, have been ordered to be detained at two separate institutions.

State Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Goh Kok Liang said the 58-year-old man would be sent to the Simpang Renggam detention camp while his 21-year-old son would be detained at the Kluang detention camp for two years.

“The Crime Prevention Board decided on the matter at 9pm today and it will take effect immediately,” he said.

The two suspects were earlier released from their remand order after it expired today.

The father and son, who were remanded under POCA, were however ordered to be monitored through tracking devices fitted on them.

The order was given by Sessions Court judge Murtazadi Amran following an application by Deputy Public Prosecutor Harris Ong Mohd Jeffery Ong.

The father and son were earlier held together with the main suspect’s 54-year-old wife and 17-year-old disabled son in Oct 26.

However the woman and her son were later released. The family were held over the murder of four persons missing since 2012.-NST
