Needs of the Chinese given priority, says DPM Zahid

MIRI: The needs of the Chinese community will continue to be given priority and the RM500,000 allocated for the upgrading of two Chinese schools here is a good indication said Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Deputy Prime Minister who is in the state to provide support for the state Barisan Nasional said Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Pei Min and Sekolah Kebangsaan Pujut Corner were allocated the amount to provide a more conducive environment for the children to study.

Speaking at a ‘Jom Berambeh’ function with the people at Saberkas Night Market here tonight, said an allocation would also be given to repair the roof of the Night Market.

“We want the traders to carry out their business in a more conducive environment just like the needs of the children at the two schools,” he said.

Also present were BN candidate for the Pujut seat Datuk Hii King Chiong, BN candidate for Senadin Datuk Lee Kim Shin, BN candidate for Piasau Datuk Sebastian Ting and Saberkas Night Market Traders Association president Abdul Rahman Jawawi.

Ahmad Zahid said the allocation requested by Hii clearly showed his commitment towards the people in the area.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid also urged the Chinese voters to give BN a bigger mandate to ensure Chinese representation in the state cabinet. — BERNAMA
