KUALA LUMPUR: The letter penned by former Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on the Dr Mahathir-Lim Kit Siang Declaration is an internal matter, said coalition leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Dr Wan Azizah hinted that the party would take heed of the warning by her husband, who is also the former opposition leader, on the dangers of working with former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin.

Anwar, who is undergoing a five-year imprisonment, had in the letter published by pro-opposition portal Malaysiakini, also expressed concern that PKR leaders and the party might be used by the duo for their own agenda.

“(We will) be cautious then,” said Dr Azizah, refusing to elaborate when prodded by reporters.

Asked if the party leaders would stop collaborating with Dr Mahathir, she merely replied: “He (Anwar) didn’t say that, right?”

Meanwhile, DAP lawmakers Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua and Serdang MP Ong Kiang Ming both declined to comment on the issue.

Pua said he had no comments about it and that he did not know the origin of the letter.

“I have yet to read it,” he said.

When told that Dr Wan Azizah had already confirmed letter was genuine, Pua and Ong said he would leave it to PKR to answer it.
