KUALA LUMPUR: A former marketing executive appeared unmoved when the High Court upheld his conviction, a 12-year jail term and three strokes of the rotan for raping his teen female Facebook friend.

Ahmat Fitra Bustami’s face bore no expression when Judicial Commissioner Datuk Ab Karim Ab Rahman dismissed the 26-year-old accused’s appeal this morning.

Ahmat, clad in a green prison uniform, was accused of raping the then 15-year-old girl in the living room of his house at Setapak here at 2.30pm on 25 Feb 25, 2013.

On March 6 the same year, Ahmat claimed trial at the Sessions Court here. On Oct 20, 2014, the Sessions Court sentenced him to 12 years in jail and three strokes of the rotan when it convicted him of raping her. She is now 18-years-old.

The High Court today ruled that it agreed with the lower court’s finding on the credibility of the girl’s testimony on penetration by Ahmat, among others.

The court also agreed with the medical report, tendered during trial, which indicated penetration of the girl’s private parts took place.

Ahmat was represented by counsel Nik Zarith Nik Moustpha. Deputy public prosecutor Siti Aisyah Ahmad prosecuted.-nst
