SERI KEMBANGAN: Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) today launched ‘touchpoints’ which will serve as hubs for the public to obtain information about the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (KVMRT) Line 2, and the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line (SSP).

The touchpoints consist of two MRT Information Centres (MICs), a MRT Information Kiosk (MIK) and a MRT Information Truck (MIT).

Datuk Amiruddin Maaris, Project Director for SSP Line, said the touchpoints will enable MRT Corp to engage and educate the public on the KVMRT project.

“These three types of touchpoints are being set up to act as a channel for members of the public to get information about the MRT Project.

“Hence the term ‘touchpoint’ – a place or channel for the MRT project to keep in constant touch with the public and vice versa,” he said during the launch ceremony of the Seri Kembangan MIC at the Atmosphere Business Centre today.

The other MIC is located at Viva Residency in Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Kuala Lumpur.

He said that previously, such touchpoints were also used as channels to engage and educate the public on the Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line (SBK).

“Following the success of the previous touchpoints, MRT Corp has now reintroduced them with the SSP Line as its main focus.

“The feedback we get from the public will be channeled to the relevant authorities,” he added.

The SSP Line will serve a corridor with a population of around 2 million people stretching from Sungai Buloh to Putrajaya and will include Sri Damansara, Kepong, Batu, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Jalan Tun Razak, KLCC, Tun Razak Exchange, Kuchai Lama, Seri Kembangan and Cyberjaya.

Phase one of SSP Line is targeted for completion by July 2021 from Sungai Buloh to Kampung Batu station.

It is expected to commence full service in the second quarter of 2022 with 11 underground stations and 26 elevated stations and an expected ridership of 533,000 passengers per day.-nst
