Civil servants to get July 8 as special holiday if Raya falls on July 6

PUTRAJAYA: The government has agreed to declare July 8 a special holiday for civil servants if Hari Raya Aidilfitri falls on July 6.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa said the special break would not apply should the Hari Raya celebration fall on July 5.

“I want to thank the prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib Razak) for approving the request made by the public servants via Cuepacs,” he said in a statement today.

Ali called on civil servants to use the special holiday wisely by spending quality time with their families and to continue improving the quality of their work when they return to their duties.

He also urged members of the public to settle any matters related to the public services before the Hari Raya break.-nst
