Khairy and TMJ to discuss plan to rejuvenate Malaysian football

BATU PAHAT: The Sports Ministry will finalise a formula to rejuvenate Malaysian football, which will see the involvement of Johor Darul Ta’zim owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, the Johor Crown Prince.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (pic) said that he would have an audience with Tunku Ismail to go over and finalise the details before facilitating a meeting with the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) executive committee.

“The meeting is scheduled for next week. We hope that the exco will accept the formula, as even the FAM president has already given his blessing,” he told reporters after launching the second phase of the Fit Johor programme here on Saturday.

He said the formula would not only rejuvenate the national football scene but also ensure continuity to the developments made by FAM president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

“The new formula will also help strengthen the management of FAM,” Khairy said, adding that with the formula, all parties would get a chance to play a role in the association.

Tunku Ismail had previously issued a warning to his detractors, especially those linked to FAM, alleging that he has a flash drive containing evidence of corruption in the association over the past 30 years.-thestar
