No injuries in Bintulu plant fire, says Petronas

BINTULU: Petronas has confirmed that no one was injured in a fire at its Liquefied Natural Gas plant in Bintulu on Saturday.

In press statement issued by Petronas Public Affairs Department Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd, the management said the fire had been doused by the plant’s internal team.

“We regret to inform that a fire occurred at one of the transformers in the Petronas LNG Complex in Bintulu at 9.40am.

“The fire was put out by internal resources at 10am and the all clear alarm sounded at 10.15am,” it said.

The statement added that there were no injuries, and that the LNG production had not been affected by the fire.

“Our team is currently investigating the cause of the incident,” it said.-thestar
