PM: I will remain steadfast in my duties

PEKAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has vowed to remain steadfast in carrying out his duties amidst various challenges and pressures from within and outside the country.

Najib said he would rather focus on his responsibility as Prime Minister and MP.

“That’s nothing; it’s all as usual. I will remain steadfast in my duties. It is my responsibility to take care of the interests and welfare of the nearly 30 million citizens of this country,” he told reporters at his Hari Raya open house here yesterday.

Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor hosted tens of thousands of guests at the open house held in his home constituency of Pekan.

He said the open house for his constituents was a tradition and he had never failed to celebrate Hari Raya with them since becoming an MP.

“This is an opportunity for me to meet my constituents. Anyone can come and they can even take selfies with me.

“My relationship with them is very close.

“Otherwise, there wouldn’t be so many people turning up at my open house,” he said.

Also present were Pahang Ruler Sultan Ahmad Shah and his consort Sultanah Kalsom as well as Tengku Mahkota Pahang Tengku Abdullah, Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Iskandar and Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob.-thestar
