Welfare home residents all joyous on meeting PM

PETALING JAYA: It was a memorable Hari Raya celebration for Jamaluddin Abdul Razak, 62, when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak spent several minutes chatting with him at the Pusat Jagaan Al-Fikrah home for the elderly and disabled youth.

Najib also assured him that his welfare would be taken care of.

“The PM really cares about this centre. He sends people over and iM4U sends volunteers as well to check whether anything lacks or needs replacement.

“At the home, there are many bedridden old folks, so the PM always sends people over to help,” said Jamaluddin, who is a resident at the home.

Jamaluddin was among 250 orphans and senior citizens from several old folk homes who joined in the ‘Let’s Beraya With iM4U’ celebrations in iM4U Sentral in Puchong yesterday.

A beaming Jamaluddin said he was proud to shake hands and have a photo taken with Najib, who promised to help take care of the welfare of the home and its residents.

Wheelchair-bound Ahmad Shazwan Mohd Sabri, 16, , also managed to take a photograph with Najib.

His mother, Wahina Wahid, 40, who is a teacher, said he had been suffering from cerebral palsy since he was four months old.

Najib was accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and daughter Nooryana Najwa.

They and the guests were feted to a variety of delicacies such as lemang, nasi himpit, nasi kerabu and local desserts. Some 200 iM4U youth volunteers from several local colleges prepared the food and desserts that were displayed at food counters.-thestar
