BUTTERWORTH: Umno isn’t concerned over moves by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia to entice its members to cross over.

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said this is due to the existing solidarity and loyalty from Umno members.

Mahdzir said Parti Pribumi would not have an impact on Umno’s steady membership growth.

“A big majority of Umno members are staying put (with the party), only a very small number will join Parti Pribumi.

We are not worried as the number is negligible,” he told a press conference today. Earlier, Mahdzir, who is also Education Minister, had opened the Umno Batu Kawan Umno divisional meeting.

In his speech, Mahdzir said the party was ready to face the 14th General Election. He said Umno was all set to register new members in the run-up to the polls.

“Even the silent voters have given their support to Barisan Nasional,” Mahdzir said.-nst
