Dealer transporting heroin and meth caught after high-speed car chase

SEREMBAN: A drug dealer transporting heroin and meth worth RM180,000 in his car was arrested following a high-speed chase by the Highway Patrol Unit at Km253 of the North-South Expressway yesterday morning.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Zaki Harun said two patrol cars were alerted to the suspect when they noticed him driving aggressively on the highway.

When they neared the car, it sped off.

“The patrol team gave chase for 3km before intercepting the 26 year-old suspect at about 10.30am near Senawang plaza toll.

“After inspections, police found three packages of heroin weighing 905g, as well as 1.9g of methamphetamine in the car.

The suspect also tested positive for methamphetamine,” he told a press conference, here, today.

Zaki said further investigation revealed that the suspect was on his way to transport the drugs to northern states.

He added the police will collaborate with their Penang and Johor counterparts to track down the syndicate involved.

It was also learnt that the suspect has a record of three drug-related arrests, and is believed to have regularly smuggled drugs to northern states.

He will be remanded for seven days under Section 39(B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1959 to facilitate investigations.-nst
