Maintain country’s good name, Zahid tells M’sians abroad

NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has reminded Malaysians living abroad to maintain the good name and image of the country.

Citizens who work or study abroad shoulder the task of ensuring that the international community does not develop the wrong perception of Malaysians, he said.

“We have to bear in mind we carry the country’s reputation, and when something bad happens, they don’t say the culprits come from Pulau Pinang or Gombak or Segambut, but instead refer to them as ‘Orang Malaysia’.”

Zahid said this during an evening meeting with 70 undergraduates studying along the US east coast, whose lead representative was Student Council vice president, Muhammad Alif Imran Rafique Ali.
