Brothers admit to bashing up two SAJ workers, fined RM5,000 each

KULAI: The two brothers who allegedly attacked Syarikat Air Johor (SAJ) workers last week pleaded guilty to four counts of charges at the Kulai Magistrate Court and fined RM5,000 each.

Youzairy Yaacob, 36 and Mohd Youzaimeer Yaacob, 29, were jointly charged with assaulting the two contract workers on Oct 18 at around 11.45am when they went to the accused parents’ home in Kampung Melayu to disconnect the water supply.

The duo were represented by lawyer Haniza Yazed who appealed for a lower sentence from Magistrate Ahmad Farid Ahmad Kamal citing that they had acted with force because the SAJ workers had made a harsh comment at their parents on the day of incident.

However, deputy public prosecutor Noor Farhana Adham said the violent act committed by the two men was against the norms of good behaviour among Malaysians and had asked for both the accused to be jailed instead.

Eyebrows were raised when a hoe which were among the case exhibits were shown during the proceeding. Ahmad Farid, before coming to his decision, had advised both men to behave maturely especially regarding small matters such as settling a water bill.

“I’m sure the seven-day remand in prison have made you come to your senses.” he said. Ahmad Farid then sentenced each of the accused to pay RM5,000 fine.
