Cops nab three more Ah Long members over violent acts

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested three more men believed to be members of loan shark syndicates for alleged involvement in two violent incidents in Kota Damansara and Serdang about two weeks ago.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din (pic) said the suspects, all aged 22, were arrested by a team of police early Thursday morning at an apartment in Seremban, Negri Sembilan.

ACP Mohd Zani said that police have submitted an application to remand the suspects, making it a total of seven people who have been arrested over the case so far.

It was earlier reported that four men, who are in their 30s, were arrested between 8pm and 11pm Tuesday in several areas around the city including Setapak, Sri Petaling and Awan Besar.

Police also detained a man believed to be the one recording the video of the attack.

The four suspects will be remanded for four days to facilitate investigations into the case classified as criminal intimidation.

A video surfaced on Oct 14 showing a group of loan sharks terrorising a cafe in Serdang at about 2pm on Oct 12.

Two of the men smashed glass windows and destroyed furniture with a hammer and machete.

As they left the cafe, one of the men tossed bottles of red paint at the cafe’s sign.

At 2.50pm the same group was caught on camera escaping in a cloned multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) from a housing area in Kota Damansara.

They were seen slashing a rope that was tied to the entry boom gate at the guardhouse before fleeing.

The men were said to have thrown glass bottles filled with red paint at the gate and wall of a house along Jalan Sepah Puteri 5/1, Seri Utama, Kota Damansara.

Two men were arrested in Johor Baru and Sri Petaling following the attacks, but have since been released on police bail.

ACP Zani said they were not associated with the loan sharks caught on the two videos.-thestar
