N. Sembilan flies into Malaysia Book of Records, named state with most Malaysian flags flown during Merdeka

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan has made it into the Malaysia Book of Records as the state with the most Jalur Gemilang raised during the Merdeka Day campaign and celebration held from Aug 15 to Sept 16 this year.

The state government has recorded a total of 88,747 flags installed and raised at various locations across the state, surpassing the 15 years record held by a Johor-based company, which raised 56,950 flags in 2001.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the achievement was the result of hard work and cooperation of all parties, who had participated in the Merdeka Day campaign.

“The state government together with private companies and the public had come together in the campaign with the goal to cultivate the Merdeka spirit. It was a breathtaking sight after the flags were put up along the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban highway as well as in other locations,” said Mohamad, adding that many complemented the effort and shared it on various social media platforms.

“We will continue with the campaign next year and I hope more companies and departments will take part,” he said.
