Red tape reduced, development approvals expedited

KANGAR: The Perlis government has taken initiatives to excessive bureaucracy in development approvals in the state by disbanding the Perlis Development Planning Committee.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man said the duty to approve investment proposal has since been transferred to the newly set-up Kangar Municipal Council’s One Stop Centre.

Azlan said following the move, all development proposals would be reviewed by the state’s Economic Planning Unit director and it will be tabled at the state executive council meeting without having to go through the committee as before.

He added that the Kangar Municipal Council’s One Stop Centre would hold a special meeting to expedite the planning approval process, based on the current regulations and procedures.

“Through this, development application process will be accelerated without much constraints,” he said.

Azlan (BN-Pauh) was responding to a question from Datuk Ismail Kassim (BN-Tambun Tulang) at the fourth term of the 13th state legislative assembly sitting today. -nst
