Petaling Jaya: Kuala Lumpur Customs director Datuk Mohd Isa Endot and deputy director Datuk Abd Gani Othman, inspected luxury cars confiscated from their owners for tax evasion at the Customs complex in Kelana Jaya here.
The Customs Department had confiscated 33 “overstayed” luxury cars worth more than RM11.3mil from their owners for evading taxes worth more than RM23.3mil.
Mohd Isa said the seized luxury cars comprised brands such as Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bentley, Porsche and Nissan GTR.
Another 28 cars, consisting of Audi, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mitsubishi and Volkswagen, were confiscated from their owners for fraud involving Customs duties.
The cars were valued at RM930,431.29 with Customs duties amounting to more than RM1.4mil.
Another batch of cars comprising Mercedes, Lexus, Honda and BMW, originally from Singapore, were confiscated after their owners failed to pay Customs duties for the vehicles.
The cars were worth more than RM2mil with Customs duties exceeding RM35.4mil.
