Have food from other races, Perak govt urged

MAKKAL Osai reported that the Perak government has been urged to give more opportunities to Indian food caterers and other communities when the authorities organise official open houses or gatherings.

Indian businessman J. Vijayalingam said that Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir should allow other races to take part in providing food for guests during functions organised by the state government.

Vijayalingam also said the Perak government should impose a condition requiring the catering contractor for government functions to allow contractors from other races to provide food too.

The paper also highlighted a report on students in Tapah having transportation difficulties due to a lack of buses plying the Tapah-Chenderiang route.

Primary students living along this route said they were unable to get to Tung Wah Estate Tamil school on time.

A parent, M. Selvam, said there were times when the buses failed to turn up, adding that students attending the Tapah Secondary School also faced similar problems.
