KUALA LUMPUR: Perak DAP deputy chairman M. Kulasegaran apologised Tuesday, saying he will abide by the party leadership’s advise to stop publicly airing internal party matters.

“DAP is like a family and comrades are just like brothers and sisters. The last thing I want to do is to hurt this family and the family members.

Nevertheless, to all those Party leaders and members as well as party supporters who have felt disappointment or even anger over the Perak family problem becoming a public issue, I hereby tender my sincere apologies,” he said Tuesday in his blog.

“I have agreed with the party secretary general Lim Guan Eng of the need to cease talking about internal issues openly, I shall abide by the agreement,” said Kulasegaran who is on holiday with his family in Nepal.

His apology comes a couple of days after Perak DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham pleaded for public forgiveness over the fracas between him and his deputy which prompted Kulasegaran to threaten to quit on Friday.

Ngeh said Sunday he believed that the problems with Kulasegaran could be resolved internally and urged the public to continue supporting the party.

“Forgive us if we have acted less than perfect in handling party problems,” he said during a party dinner at Taman Kanthan Jaya on Sunday.

“I ask that you do not hate M. Kula for what has transpired,” said Ngeh, calling on the people to allow the party to resolve its problems internally.

“I ask that you do not hate me or my cousin, Nga Kor Ming after hearing one side of the story.

Kulasegaran had threatened to quit the party post following a blowout in a meeting chaired by party adviser Lim Kit Siang recently.

Lim had advised Kulasegaran to reconsider his decision while taking a break to and cool off during his holiday abroad.

DAP secretary general and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng had also spoken to Ngeh, instructing him not to make any public statements from the press. Star Online
