Perak ready to implement green technology initiative

IPOH (Nov 5, 2010): Perak is ready to implement the green technology initiative with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (Mou) by three companies, including from China, to build a mini-hydro project.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, who witnessed the MoU signing, said the project, costing RM100 million, could generate electricity supply of 10megawatt with green technology application.

“The project which does not require a dam uses green technology. The power generated will be sold to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB),” he told reporters here today.

The MoU was signed by Perak Hydro Renewable Energy Corporation (PHREC), represented by its chairman, Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad; China Science and Technology International Supply Corporation, represented by its board chairman, Liang Ding, and Bumi International Energy Sdn Bhd, which was represented by its executive director, Mohd Dzahir Jamudin. — Bernama
