PUTRAJAYA, May 10 (Bernama) — Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said on Tuesday that the uncivil language that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim used against him just shows that the opposition leader is trapped in ethics-free politics.

The Prime Minister said that political differences were acceptable but they should concern issues of interest to the people and not take the form of personal attacks.

In any case, the Prime Minister said:”This (Anwar’s uncivil language) has not caused me to lose sleep because I am sure that people can judge for themselves the action of a leader like him.”

“To attack someone personally is to be trapped in a cauldron of politics that has no ethics. I am sure the people can assess for themselves politicians who do this,” he told reporters here when asked to comment on a report that Anwar at a meeting with the Indian community in Klang on Saturday had called Najib “pandi kutty” which is Tamil for piglet.

Anwar came under fire from several quarters, who charged that his ill choice of words reflected an increasingly desperate politician.

Najib, who earlier chaired a Budget 2012 Consultation Council as Finance Minister, was also asked to comment on the view that the “Loyal Brigade” formed by the right-wing Perkasa was a nucleus for a militant grouping.

Najib said that peace and harmony should be the first consideration for the country.

“We have been enjoying peace for so long. We should not do anything that can threaten peace, harmony and stability in the country,” he said.

The Prime Minister said the government would not stand still in the face of any threat to the peace and security of the country.
