SHAH ALAM: A former marketing director pleaded not guilty at a Sessions Court here to nine counts of criminal breach of trust by selling products of Mars Paint Sdn Bhd below the actual price, causing losses of RM2.2mil to the company.

Chi Thian Foo, 39, was accused of criminal breach of trust when he sold four types of car paint at a cheaper price to Tanjung Malim-based Elite Town Coating Sdn Bhd.

He allegedly committed the offences at Mars Paint’s office in Jalan Kapar, Klang between July 3, 2006 and Dec 30, 2010.

He claimed trial before judge Aslam Zainuddin here yesterday.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Faten Hadni Khairuddin offered a RM500,000 bail with one surety as the amount involved in the case was RM2.2mil and asked for Chi’s passport to be surrendered.

Defence counsel Shahrulazwad Ismail told the court his client was detained on Monday morning at the airport while on his way to Shanghai.

“He has given full cooperation. He will keep up with his court appearances so I ask for a lower bail,” said Shahrulazwad.

Aslam fixed RM450,000 bail with one surety. The case is fixed for mention on Dec 15.
