MACC Wants More Info On Case Of Forestry Officer Who Stashed Away Millions

IPOH  – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has urged public with information to aid investigation into the case of a Perak Forestry Department officer believed to have stashed away cash and shares worth millions of ringgit.

Perak MACC director Nooraziah Abd Manaf said it has recorded statements from several individuals and are searching for other individuals with information on the case to help complete investigation papers.

“We need to do many things to complete investigation papers. Individuals with information on the case can come to MACC office,” she said when contacted here.

Nooraziah said those summoned to give statements were not considered offenders as their presence was required to identify offences and offenders.

“The statements, documents and so on are required as proof. The investigation process is bound by laws and regulations.

Newspapers reported that a senior forestry officer was detained on Thursday after RM720,000 was found hidden in his house in Gerik.

MACC officers also found several trust fund books with shares worth over RM4mil. The senior forestry officer was detained until Wednesday to aid investigation.
