Six Dead, Three Hurt In Four Accidents In Perak In 24 Hours

IPOH, Feb 8 (Bernama) — Six people were killed, two seriously injured and another slightly hurt in four accidents in 24 hours in Perak.

State traffic acting chief, DSP Mohamad Roy Hashim said two Myanmar nationals were killed when a motorcycle rammed into a parked lorry in Manjung at KM1.5 Jalan Sitiawan-Kampung Acheh at 10.40pm last night.

The dead were pillion rider Mui Mg Mg, 25, and the unidentified rider, he said when contacted Wednesday.

In the second incident near Slim River, Mohamad Roy said a woman was killed while her husband and niece were seriously injured when a lorry they were travelling in hit a road divider at KM376.5 North South Expressway at 2.05pm, yesterday.

The dead was lorry passenger Nurkhafiyah Abdul Aziz, 46, while lorry driver Mohd Raie Muni, 43, and another passenger Nor Atika Zainal, 17, were seriously hurt, he said.

He said Nurkhafiyah’s remains were sent to the Manjung Hospital. Mohd Raie and Nor Atika were treated at the same hospital.

In the third incident in Krian at KM182 North-South Expressway at 2.55am, he said two died when a car skidded and bulldozed a motorcyclist and a pedestrian.

He said they were motorcyclist Rohaizam Abdul Rahim, 21, and Jamaluddin Ahmad, 35, both from Bagan Serai and their bodies were sent to the Parit Buntar Hospital for post-mortem. The motorist was slightly hurt.

In another incident a 17-year-old boy was killed when his motorcycle hit the road divider in Jalan Raja Nazrin, near here, at 3am.

Dineshnesan a/l Marimuthu was heading for Ipoh from Simpang Pulai when the mishap took place.
