Call For MPPP To Be Fair In Enforcement

GEORGE TOWN, Sept 4 – Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth today urged the Municipal Council of Penang Island (MPPP) to be impartial in the enforcement of its rules.

Its chief, Oh Tong Keong, said the MPPP had acted unfairly when it seized more than 300 BN flags and the national flags hung up along Jalan Gottlieb for the “Semboyan Dibunyikan” (Sounding the Siren) programme of the party last Sunday.

He said the MPPP gave the excuse that the BN had not applied for a permit while the billboards erected by the DAP-led state government at Jalan Lim Mah Chye and Jalan Padang Tembak were left untouched though the period of the permit had expired.

“I also notice that there are many flags of the DAP and PKR hung up along Jalan Jelutong. I ask the MPPP to be fair to all political parties. Why did it not give any notice before removing the flags?” he told reporters.

Meanwhile, Bukit Bendera BN coordinator H’ng Chee Wey asked MPPP to return the seized BN flags and national flags.
