PM says he is willing to meet the father of the college student but adds that everyone must respect the law: –

KUALA LUMPUR: The Cheras-based Cybernetics International College of Technology has expelled a student for allegedly insulting a national leader.

Cybernetics, in a statement on Thursday, said it would not condone any behaviour that violated the law.

Hence, it said the Cybernetics Disciplinary and Academic Board had decided to expel a student who was found to have engaged in an act of insulting a national leader recently.

It said the act allegedly committed by a third semester student of the Diploma Creative Multimedia course was in his individual capacity.

“It does not at all represent the culture of knowledge practised in Cybernetics,” said the statement.

It said Cybernetics also took a proactive step to help police investigations into the case.

“Cybernetics always supports and embraces the government’s aspiration under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak,” it added.

It said this was in line with efforts to produce the desired human capital that was knowledgeable, adhering to the code of ethics, and upholding the supremacy of the constitution towards Malaysia’s development and prosperity.

The male student was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly mooning over the photos of Najib and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor during the ‘Janji Demokrasi’ rally on the eve of the independence day near Dataran Merdeka.

He was among 11 people wanted by the police over an unruly behaviour at the rally.

Meanwhile, in BESUT, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he was willing to meet the father of the college student over his indecent and rude act at the Janji Demokrasi gathering on Merdeka eve, Aug 30.

The 19-year-old was caught on camera exposing his buttocks and stepping and squatting on the pictures of Najib, his wife and Election Commission chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof during the gathering.

“If he (teenager’s father) wants to meet me, it can be arranged anytime,” he said after attending a Hari Raya celebration in Kampung Tasek Tok Lebai, here, on Thursday.

The media reported that the man wanted to meet Najib personally to apologise for his son’s offensive behaviour.

Najib said everyone must respect the law.
