MERSING: Five in a family including two children were killed while another child was seriously injured when the multi-purpose vehicle they were in collided with a fuel tanker at Km13 Jalan Mersing-Endau in Mersing this morning.

They deceased, from Felda Air Tawar 5 in Kota Tinggi, were enroute to Endau when the road crash occured about 7.30am.

They are identified as driver Abdullah Yusof, 43, his wife who was also the front passenger Samsiah Maidin, 37, their children Muhammad Aiman Syakirin Abdullah, eight, and Maisarah Abdullah, four, and Samsiah’s elder sister Noraini, 41.

Maisarah died at the Mersing Hospital while the other four died on the spot.

The injured, Amar Haziq Abdullah, three, is being treated at the Mersing Hospital.

Mersing OCPD Deputy Superintendent Mohd Nor Rasid said it is believed the MPV lost control and inched into the opposite lane before the crash.
