JOHOR BARU: A couple and their son were found dead at their house in Kampung Jawa, Pengerang, near Kota Tinggi on Tuesday.

Kota Tinggi District Police Chief Supt Che Mahazan Che Aik said police were investigating to see if they committed suicide.

He said a police team went to the house after being informed of the incident about 10am and found three bodies, that of a 60-year-old man, his 57-year-old wife and their son, in his 20s and believed to be suffering from down-syndrome, in a bedroom.

“There was smell of smoke and we believe something was burned in the room to make them suffocate,” he said when contacted here.

He said there was no element of foul play, but police were investigating.

The bodies were sent to Kota Tinggi for a post-mortem.
