KUALA LUMPUR: There will be no less than 50,000 policemen working during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holiday season, as only 10 percent of the whole force nationwide will be given off, said Inspector- General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar today.

“However, no traffic personnel will be granted leave this year for this particular holiday period.”

“All traffic policemen are needed to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow during the heavy traffic period, of one of the biggest holiday seasons for the nation,” Khalid said when met after launching the the ‘kuih raya’ packs distribution ceremony held at the Perkep Multipurpose Hall here in Bukit Aman’s federal police headquarters.

His deputy Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Zinin, and Internal Security and Public Order (KDNKA) department director Datuk Salleh Mat Rasid accompanied Khalid as he presented boxes of raya goodies to state police chiefs, department heads and commanders nationwide .

The 5,400 boxes of cookies were sponsored by the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda).
