KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Besut by-election date will be announced this Friday, the Election Commission (EC) said Monday.

The EC is also expected to announce the nomination and advanced voting dates.

EC secretary Datuk Kamaruddin Mohamed Baria said the commission would hold a meeting on the by-election earlier in the day, followed by a press conference where their chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof would be announcing the dates.

“The EC received an official notification from the Terengganu state assembly on the seat vacancy on June 27, following the death of its assemblyman Dr A. Rahman Mokhtar on June 26,” he said in a statement.
