KUALA LUMPUR: Former Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam will be contesting for the Umno vice-presidency after all.

A source close to Ali denied talk that he would be withdrawing from the race and that the former Malacca Umno leader was on his way to Kuala Lumpur to file his nomination form.

“We checked with him this morning and he told us that there is no reason for him to pull out of the race,” said the source adding that Ali was expected to arrive at the Putra World Trade Centre at 1pm today to file his papers.

Utusan Malaysia’s online portal today reported that there were questions in whether Ali would remain in the race and that it was possible that he may pull out.
