Man accused of filming women in church toilets

MAHKAMAH

A FORMER church worker was charged with more than 60 counts of filming women in the toilets of a church and its office.

Kenneth Yeo Jia Chuan, 26, faces a total of 68 charges, of which 66 are for insulting the modesty of women over a three-and-a-half year period.

He is accused of using a pinhole camera device to film women in a handicapped toilet in the Church of Singapore (Bukit Timah) in Hindhede Road and in a unisex toilet at the church’s office at Bukit Timah Shopping Centre.

Yeo worked at the church as a technician handling IT and building maintenance matters for two years until he left in June 2010.

The video clips were supposedly taken between April 2008 and October 2011.

The two remaining charges that Yeo faces are for possession and attempted sale of obscene films.

If convicted, Yeo faces a jail term of up to one year and/or fine for each charge of insulting modesty.

For having an obscene film, the maximum penalty is 12 months’ jail and a S$40,000 (RM103,695) fine.
