PUTRAJAYA: The bullet that is lodged inside the abdomen of MyWatch chairman R. Sri Sanjeevan cannot be removed as he is not sufficiently stable to be operated on, said Health Minister Datuk Seri S. Subramaniam.

“At the moment, the most important thing is to stabilise his condition.

“Once he is strong enough for the surgery, the hospital will do it,” he told the media after giving a progress update of his ministry at the Healthcare National Key Economic Area (NKEA) meeting here yesterday.

Subramaniam said the decision to delay the surgery was based purely on medical considerations.

“At the moment, the bullet is not causing any serious problem,” he said.

Sanjeevan was shot by the pillion rider of a motorcycle at an intersection in Taman Cempaka, Bahau, on Saturday.

He was initially warded at Seremban’s Tuanku Jaafar hospital but was moved to the Serdang Hospital on Saturday night after his condition deteriorated.

Sanjeevan’s sister told The Star that her brother was in stable condition, and was still asleep after being sedated.
