Woman hurt by silat disciples

A 32-year-old woman, who claims that she has been treated like a sex slave by her “silat master” husband, was beaten up by 20 of his disciples when she divorced him, reported Harian Metro.

The woman, who only wanted to be known as Hanim, said she met the man in 2005 when she was studying martial arts, shortly after she divorced her first husband.

Hanim became the man’s second wife and helped the silat master, who is in his 50s, manage his foundation.

“Unfortunately, my marital bliss was short-lived. Less than a year after we got married, he started to show his true colours. I was yelled at, beaten and insulted.

“He even stepped on my stomach, making me feel that my life was that of a slave,” said Hanim, adding that the only time she was treated well was when the man wanted to have sex.

“He told me that he was ‘sick’ of his first wife,” she said, claiming that she was only given RM50 a month and four sets of new clothes in their entire eight years of marriage.

Tired of her situation, Hanim said she asked for an amicable separation last March before formally divorcing the man in a Selangor court.

However, Hanim claimed that she was apprehended by a group of men she believed to be her ex-husband’s disciples while staying in a budget hotel in Selangor recently.

The men, she said, had beaten up a male friend travelling with her before dragging her to a religious department office on charges of khalwat.

Hanim said although she was later freed, her ex-husband, along with around 20 other men, had beaten her up when she tried to lodge a report at a police station.
