PETALING JAYA: MCA must stop its infighting and vote wisely at the upcoming extraordinary general meeting to move forward as a strong and united party, said party vice-president Datuk Donald Lim.
He urged central delegates to attend this Sunday’s EGM and called on members to set aside disagreements and agendas to look at the bigger picture instead.
“This is a time for all of us, as party members, to make a collective decision in the EGM. You are making a choice not for someone, yourself or the comrades in the party now, but for the survival of the party and future of our new generation in the country,” he told a press conference yesterday.
Lim said he himself was opposed to the idea of having an EGM with the party’s annual general meeting (AGM) just two months away, but he said it was “inevitable” at this juncture.
An EGM, he said, should only be held when there were urgent resolutions which had an impact on the Chinese community and the country’s political development.
