IPOH: The Selangor police contingent will form its first all-women Ops Cantas Khas Wanita to combat violent crime.

Selangor CPO Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan said 40 policewomen and officers of all ranks would be involved.

”For a start, we are looking at forming two teams,” he told reporters after closing the Ops Cantas Khas Wanita training programme at the General Operations Force camp in Ulu Kinta yesterday.

SDCP Mohd Shukri said the team, to be placed under the contingent’s Criminal Investigation Department, would focus on criminal activities involving triad members and drug-related cases in the state.

He said the first batch of 13 women trainees completed their one-week training at the Ulu Kinta camp.

“I hope more women police personnel will participate in the training programmes to come,” he said, adding that the training would be conducted every three months.

SDCP Mohd Shukri also said the contingent had checked 301,365 people from Aug 17 to Dec 5.

“Over the same period, we identified and arrested 15,820 people for various offences,” he said.
