KAJANG: The Federal Government is confident of the Selangor Mentri Besar’s leadership to complete the takeover of the four water concessionaires operating in the state within three months.

Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili said the state government’s shares in three of the water companies would help with the takeover.

A deal clinched between the federal and state governments on Wednesday provides for the central government to allocate RM2bil to Selangor to be used in the acquisition of the four concessionaires.

The companies are Puncak Niaga Sdn Bhd, Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas), Syarikat Pengeluar Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (SPLASH) and Konsortium Abass Sdn Bhd (Abass).
